SMAC dominates Fall Invite
Swimmers post 161 lifetime bests
The Waynesboro Y Swim Team – SMAC – hosted teams from Roanoke to Charlottesville in its Nov. 20-21 swim meet held at the Waynesboro Y. Virtually all of the Shenandoah Marlins Aquatic Club team members attended and participated in the meet. SMAC swimmers looked great in their races and swam 161 lifetime best times.
Several swimmers were racing in their first ever USA Swimming meet. Those swimmers were McKina Fitzgerald, Miles Fitzgerald, Gabby Scarbrough, Riley Willets, Luke Young and Hailey Cook.
Leading SMAC in the 10-and-under age group was Caleb Johnson with four first-place finishes (100 fly, 200 free, 1000 free, 100 free). Leading SMAC in the 13-14 age group was Hunter McMillon and Max Tempkin with three wins each. McMillon won the 200 IM, 1000 free, and 50 free while Tempkin won the 200 fly, 400 IM and 100 fly.
Other SMAC swimmers to win first place included Lexi Campbell in the 15-and-over age group (100 back, 1000 free), Bobby Carey in the 13-14 age group (200 free), Riley Gildea and Brazil Rule in the 11-12 age group (1000 free & 500 free), Steven Jenny in the 15 and older age group (200 IM) and Madison Tegen in the 13-14 age group (1000 free).
SMAC swimmers achieved many new B, BB, A and AA time standards in the meet and are on their way to much success this season. Charlotte Rumsey (10) achieved A times in her 100 back, 100 breaststroke and a AA time in her 50 breastroke, Colleen Higgens (12) made new A times in her 50 free, 200 free and 200 IM, Caleb Johnson achieved new A times in his 500 free, 100 back and 100 fly, Savannah Scarbrough (12) made a A time in her 50 breaststroke, Max Tempkin (13) made A times in his 100 fly and 400 IM, Hunter McMillon made an A time in the 1000 free and Brazil Rule made a AA in her 500 free.
SMAC is gearing up for its big midseason meets to be held in Roanoke and Pittsburgh.
