SMAC shines at JMU meet

The Waynesboro Y Swim Team (SMAC) traveled to the James Madison University in late January to compete against area swim teams.

SMAC brought a large portion of its swim team to race in the meet. The following 55 SMAC swimmers competed in the meet: Keegan Abar, Matt Bihl, Alexis Brooks, Peyton Brooks, Lexi Campbell, Bobby Carey, Chris Carmagnola, Lindsey Carter, Mackenzie Carter, Maya Chatterson , Anna Corley, Rece D’Alessandro, Jessie Dugan, Braelin Fauber, McKina Fitzgerald, Miles Fitzgerald, Margot Flanders, Alexander Flowers, Anna Fridley, Jack Fridley, Haley Garnett, Olivia Heeb, CJ Higdon, Colleen Higgens, Hailey Ickes, Steven Jenny, Caleb Johnson, Ethan Johnson, Nicholas Keen, Sarah Loomis, Scout McDevitt, Hunter McMillon, Jordan Miller, Sara Mumbauer, Ella Pickering, Teryn Ratcliffe, Alex Rayle, Maggie Riggan, Brazil Rule, Charlotte Rumsey, Gabbie Scarbrough, Savannah Scarbrough, Hanna Shifflett, Tate Snyder, Madison Tegen, Elizabeth Terrell, Logan Terrell, Benton Turner, Kristen Wagner, Gannon Willcutts, Riley Willets, Emma Woodworth, Isabel Woodworth, Libby Young and Luke Young.

SMAC swimmers had 141 lifetime best times. A lifetime best time is a race where a swimmer swims faster than they ever have in that race previously and does not include races where the swimmer is swimming a race for the first time. Swimmers having at least five lifetime best times were:

  • Sarah Loomis (11)
  • Teryn Ratcliffe (10)
  • Maggie Riggan (12)
  • Hanna Shifflett (9)

  • Isabel Woodworth (10)

SMAC had 34 first-place finishes, led by Chatterson (age 7) with eight first-place finishes, C. Johnson (age 10) with six, M. Fitzgerald (7) with four, P. Brooks (10) with four, Rumsey (10) with three and the following swimmers with one first-place finish: Abar (17), Campbell (15), D’Allessandro (7), Higdon (14), Jenny (16), Rayle (15), Rule (12), Tegan (14) and Willcutts (13).
