Family commits $20K to locker-room renovation

Gift requires match – we need
your help to get there!

In loving memory of their mother, Christine Swann’s family has made a $20,000 challenge gift to support the ladies locker room renovation project at the Waynesboro Family YMCA.

Christine (Chris), her husband Carter, and children Tom and Robert, were all active members of the Y in the ’80s and ’90s. Mrs. Swann swam laps every morning and thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie and friendships she developed here at the Y. Dedicated to children, she was a preschool teacher at Main Street United Methodist Church and greatly appreciated the impact our Y had on the youth and families we served.

For decades our ladies locker room has been a hub of activity at the Y – from younger children getting ready for their first swim lesson to our Happy Ducks that stay young with exercise. Now the time has come for this hot spot of activity to undergo a fitness program of its own.

With the Swann family’s generous gift challenge your $50 gift becomes $100. Your $100 gift becomes $200. Our contractor is standing by … your gift coupled with this type of math will get us a sparkling new renovated ladies locker room by the end of summer.

The Christine Swann Memorial Matching Gift Challenge is live through Aug. 5.
