The art of tai chi

Tai chi is an ancient internal martial art in which each movement is designed to result in increased health and energy for the individual. The movements are slow, gentle, and easy to learn. Tai chi will help increase circulation, improve balance and coordination in order to prevent falls, aid concentration and, with practice, result in an integration of mind and body. Several medical studies have indicated that tai chi can be helpful for people with arthritis, diabetes, fibromyalgia, and osteoporosis. It has also been shown to aid cancer recovery.

The 6-form Yang style, which is the beginning Yang form, will be taught at the Waynesboro Family YMCA on Tuesday mornings at 8 am. This will be a continuing class, beginning in September. Students may join at any time. Movements can be modified to accommodate most physical conditions. All ages welcome!
