108 Sun Salutations

108 sun salutationsAre you looking forward to June 21st, summer solstice?  It’s the day with the most sunlight!  Let’s celebrate the light by saluting the sun.  After all, life would not be possible without the sun.  Because of the increasing light from the sun our bodies also absorb more energy.  The Waynesboro Y will set out to do our very own 108 SUN SALUTATIONS!   It will be a challenge, you may be sore afterwards, but it’s more about getting through it than coming in first place.

Why do we do 108 of them?  There are many reasons, but our  favorite is that the distance to the sun is 108 times that of the earth.  In other words, we need to travel the earth 108 times to reach the sun.  Some of those journeys are easy and some are not.  Some of the sun salutations may feel easy while some will not.  The journey is individual.  But if we travel together, breathe together and stay on the path together we will make it to the other side.  That’s how it is in life and that’s how it will be when we partake together the ancient practice of 108 Sun Salutations to honor the great light.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 21st 6:00am-8:00am on the Greenway in Waynesboro and again from 10:00am-12:00pm at the Waynesboro YMCA.
