Former Waynesboro YMCA chairman of the board and 2007 YMCA Hall of Fame inductee Jacob Kirkwood “Kirk” Snell passed away on Wednesday. Snell was 89.
Snell settled in Waynesboro with his wife, Virginia, in 1954, when the Westhills Company located in Waynesboro with the new General Electric plant. In 1977, he received the Stienmetz Award, the highest award given internally by GE, for the development of the Terminet printer, which became a million-dollar business for the Waynesboro plant.
