Former Waynesboro YMCA chairman of the board and 2007 YMCA Hall of Fame inductee Jacob Kirkwood “Kirk” Snell passed away on Wednesday. Snell was 89.
Snell settled in Waynesboro with his wife, Virginia, in 1954, when the Westhills Company located in Waynesboro with the new General Electric plant. In 1977, he received the Stienmetz Award, the highest award given internally by GE, for the development of the Terminet printer, which became a million-dollar business for the Waynesboro plant. Y loses a beloved member of the family
The Waynesboro YMCA lost a beloved member of its family on Saturday with the passing of Russell Culver, 74, who died on Saturday, April 17, after a battle with cancer.
Culver had been a member of the YMCA staff since 2002. He worked in the fitness center and also led new members on tours of the facility.
He was born in Manchester, Conn., on March 1, 1936. Culver grew up in Buckland, Conn., and served in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. Read more
