SMAC competes at District Swim Meet in Roanoke
The Shenandoah Marlins Aquatic Club, which practices at the Waynesboro Y, competed in the Virginia Swimming District Championships in Roanoke Virginia Feb. 17-19.
The meet was open to all swimmers in the Southwest District in Virginia. The meet is geared for younger swimmers (14 and under) and swimmers who are trying to obtain qualifying times to be eligible to compete in the Regional Meet the following weekend or the State Championship Meet in early March. Be Heart Healthy During American Heart Month
February is American Heart Month and as a leading nonprofit dedicated to strengthening community through healthy living, the Waynesboro Family YMCA urges everyone in Waynesboro and Eastern Augusta Area to take steps to prevent chronic diseases, such as heart disease, so they can lead longer, healthier lives.
To address the prevalence of heart disease in the United States, the Y made a commitment to the Million Hearts campaign, an initiative spearheaded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services that aims to prevent 1 million heart attacks and strokes over the next five years. The Waynesboro Family YMCA has been a location for the Healthways SilverSneakers® Fitness Program for many years. SilverSneakers® is an innovative health, exercise and wellness program helping older adults live healthy, active lifestyles. The Waynesboro Family YMCA offers several fitness classes to get you moving.
Now, Healthways SilverSneakers® has made the process to get active even easier. When you receive your NEW SilverSneakers® Card in the mail, bring it to the Waynesboro Family YMCA and our friendly Front Desk Staff and Fitness Staff will help you get started. - 500 yard Swim: 7:30 a.m.
- Gobbler Trot: 8 a.m.
- 5K Run or Walk: 9 a.m.
- Child Care offered from 7-10:30 a.m.
Entry fees (per person)
- Individual Early Bird (received by Nov 14) $20
- Family/Team (8 or more mailed together) $17 (must be received by Nov. 14)
- Regular Registration (Nov. 15-23) $24
- Nov 24th Registration $30
- Race Day Registration $35
- Gobbler Trot (1K)- $12 (adults running in the 5K may accompany their child in the Gobbler Trot for free
- All fees are non-refundable.

- Participants can also register online or fax the form to 540.932.7582.
