Back pain can be one of the most frustrating conditions we try to manage and it can disrupt our life. Have you ever wanted to specifically strengthen your neck or low back but did not know how? Maybe you have suffered from back pain and did not want to risk further injury. What is the best way to do this?

The Waynesboro YMCA is offering a medically supervised workout program taught by a physical therapist from Barren Ridge Physical Therapy with specialized training in back conditions, to safely and effectively work out both the upper and lower spine promoting stabilization and optimal function. Commonwealth Games coming in June

The annual Commonwealth Games youth swim meet is on the schedule for June 24-26 at the War Memorial Pool in Waynesboro.

The meet, sanctioned by U.S. Swimming and Virginia Swimming, is open to all registered USA and Virginia swimmers. Entries are being accepted through June 8. Entries must be submitted in long-course meter times. All entry times must have been achieved in USS-sanctioned and -approved competition.

The 2011 United States Swimming Code and Rules apply. Virginia Safety and Warm-up Procedures will be in effect. In accordance with Virginia Swimming Policy, only those coaches who display current, valid, USS credentials will be allowed to act in a coaching capacity in this meet. Read more

Teens invited to TWEET at the Y

New program gets teens
exploring, expanding themselves

You’re familiar with what tweets are – text-message-like communications in 140 characters or less. The Waynesboro Y is adding a new definition for TWEET that expands a bit on the rapid-fire nature of tweets.

The Y TWEET program stands for Teen Week of Exploration, Expanding and Team Building, and at the Y TWEETing will get teens out and active in activities including hiking, bowling, frisbee golf, strength-training, team-building and more. Read more
